I just finished the Clean 9 detox to reboot and reset my system, hoping to change my lifestyle into one with better and healthier food. I’m not gonna lie, the detox was pretty intense and quite long, but just power through right! I have been struggling with my weight and how I feel in my own skin. It is just so easy to indulge in that piece of pie or my 7th chocolate chip cookie. But at some point you have to admit to yourself that you are nearly becoming a chocolate chip cookie (you are what you eat 😉 ). So I made the radical decision to better myself with a cleanse. No prepping, no easing into it. I began the next day.
It was tough not eating anything for the first two days besides cucumber, tomato and 1 protein shake a day. But the rest of the detox was pretty good although it was a little long. I stuck it out till the end and I felt so much better honestly. But then the hard part began. What are you going to eat now that you don’t have someone telling you what to eat and when? I really wanted that balance of eating healthy but also being able to make this into a lifestyle with the occasional cheat-meal/snack once a week. If you are a little bit like me and can relate to this topic, this post might help you start this lifestyle. So without any further ado… hereby my first “What I Eat In A Day”.
Breakfast – Oatmeal Latte
Let’s start breakfast like a queen. This is the one for all the coffee lovers like me. Starting the day with that dose of caffeine hits the right spot, nothing gets me started better than a delicious latte. You might think.. uhm hello Isabelle this is not new information and you are right. But what if I tell you, you are going to combine this delicious latte with a bowl of creamy oatmeal. The result is a delicious, nutritious, and most of all, efficient way to consume coffee, oats, and milk at the same time. For the full recipe click here.
Lunch – Avocado Chicken Salad
I am eating this healthy chicken salad for lunch all summer long and I bet you will too! This avocado chicken salad skips the heavy dressing in favor of creamy, dreamy avocados! This recipe is quick, simple, and packs in so much flavor from the lime and cilantro. You can put the Avocado Chicken Salad in a plain tortilla wrap or a lettuce wrap if you really want to cut the carbs. Or eat it just straight out of the bowl. Any way is the right way. Snack – Granola Bars
I have been searching for a healthy snack that satisfies my hungry needs and is delish at the same time. A difficult combination? Not with these bars! Simple flavors, wholesome ingredients, salty-sweet with lots of crunch. How I managed to not eat the whole thing in one go is beyond me. But by tomorrow it likely won’t be there, if I know myself at all.
These really are the perfect bar for a hearty snack because they keep you full for hours and don’t provide a sugar overload. Plus, they pack in plenty of healthy fats from the almonds and peanut butter, and lots of fiber from the oats. Afternoon and mid-morning snack, solved. For the full recipe click here.
Dinner – Teriyaki Chicken
If you wanna eat healthy, chicken and rice are the way to go. But what can you add to make it a little bit more moist or creamy. I mean I am all for healthy food but it has to be yummy. Just plain dry rice is just not going to do the trick.
This Teriyaki Chicken with broccoli recipe cooked in 10-minutes with no marinading needed! Crispy and juicy chicken thighs stir-fried and swimming in a beautiful flavoured homemade teriyaki sauce. A subtle hint of garlic adds a twist on a traditional Japanese Teriyaki. This is better than any bottled sauce from the supermarket! For the full recipe click here.
It goes without saying that I drink a lot of water and tea during the day. It’s my goal to come close to drinking 2 liters of water everyday. Some days this task seems really hard, but don’t be to hard on yourself. This is what a day of eating for me looks like. Of course this is a weekday with no cheating. In the weekends I let myself eat the occasional donut, french fries and chocolate obviously. I feel so much better with this 80/20 balance or however you want to call it.
Nowadays I can really look forward to the weekend to reward myself with a little bit of cheating. On the other hand with mouthwatering meals & snacks like these you can still enjoy food to the fullest without that little feeling of regret afterwords. I would love to hear what you guys eat in a day and how you keep a balanced lifestyle.
Because life is all about balance.
I love you all!
